Absecon is a scenic historic city located in southern New Jersey and was named for the Absegami tribe of Native Americans . Originally a town in 1872, Absecon incorporated in 1902 to a city. "OBB-CEE-CON" as some miss pronounce it over the years, historic Absecon which borders Pleasantville, Galloway Township, Egg Harbor Township and AC is locatedjust 4 miles from the Atlantic City beaches, casino activities, and easy travel access to Philadelphia and numerous towns with Rt 30, New Road and Shore Road, and the AC Expressway and NJ Parkway close by.
Absecon, offers something for everyone: parks, recreational sports, quality wildlife locals, boating, fishing and crabbing opportunities, restaurants, shopping, an active historical society and a highly recognized school system. The school system has an arrangement of sending high school students to Pleasantville High School for many years now, however, it is recently looking into possibly arranging a new contract with bordering Galloway Township in the future. Absecon is also home to the private well known Holy Spirit High School.
With over 8,100 residents, Absecon is a major hub connecting the White Horse Pike-Rt 30 to AC, which offers plenty of shopping and eateries, and the old town flare and charm with its New Jersey Ave shops and businesses.
